The Cathedral Square Apartment is proposed to build the 153-unit, market rate, mixed-use multifamily apartment. It is intended to create a prominent building in an up-and-coming, vibrant downtown area. The project will deliver a modern/contemporary timeless design without over-decorative architecture.
The exterior of the main façade facing J street is made up of durable and timeless materials. The exterior palette will have neutral tones (light gray and darker gray) with a projecting metal window frame as a unique design feature. Therefore, the façade creates an interesting pattern of window frames with a Juliette balcony. Juliette's balcony is proposed to be made of cable rails tied to the metal window frame. For the 11th street building facade, the off-white cement board with horizontal reveal lines reflects a similar expression to the adjacent the Cathedral of the Blessed. For the J street, the dark-gray cement board panel design is proposed to create visual contrast.
The corner at the 11th and J street creates its own unique style featuring large windows, projecting balconies, and recessed frames. A glazed ground-level retail space with a metal canopy provides an open modern aesthetic from the residential building above.
