WARRENS CENTER, CALIFORNIA STATE UNIVERSITY, CHICO
CHICO, ca

The Warren Center, originally designed by Julia Morgan, is a two story wood framed structure that once housed the University President. In 1999 the building was converted into a reception center for University events with the addition of accessible restrooms, ramps, elevator and other various modifications. Today the facility encloses approximately 5,650 s.f. including the first and second floors and partial basement of the house, the garage and restroom facilities.

Although the University continues to use the facility as an event center, the University wishes to evaluate the existing condition of the facility (including its mechanical and electrical systems) and study the possibility of enhancing the facility’s use as an event center by expanding the kitchen, removing the elevator, conforming to current accessibility standards and making general repairs and maintenance to the building. Also, the University wishes to include the adjoining landscaped rear yard in the enhancement study with in-place supports for temporary tents, outdoor lighting, landscape and hardscape improvements.

The project was completed in 2017.
