As an entry in a design-build competition, this two story, 14,000 square foot recreational facility proposed solution was intended to function in conjunction with the existing and adjacent Gallo Recreational Center. The project program included cardio/weight exercise rooms, conference rooms, and multi-purpose and office space. Major project challenges included finessing the program onto a limited and constrained site and bridging the existing architectural language between adjacent student housing and the academic campus. This design solution included adaptable and flexible interior spaces and passive energy solutions such as a cool tower and thermal mass to meet LEED Gold minimum.
