HERMAN MILLER EMPLOYEE CENTER
ROCKLIN, ca

An AIACVC award winner, the 1,200 sf multi-function design-build project offers convenient dining, meeting and social space for the employees of this furniture assembly and distribution facility. Dining space is supported by an existing vending area in the adjacent building and a small kitchen area within the new footprint.
The new building replaced a copper-clad steel tower at the center of the campus and the original break room over which it loomed. Its design evolved from careful consideration of materials, scale, form and detail to achieve the desired character. Copper and galvanized metal cladding over monumentally scaled forms retain and enhance cohesiveness of the campus' architectural expression.
