MAIDU COMMUNITY CENTER
ROSEVILLE, ca

This 20,000-sf facility was the first building planned and constructed Maidu Regional Park on Roseville's east side. The center includes a variety of activity spaces for older adults, meetings and conferences, dance aerobics, arts and crafts, pre-schoolers, and large assemblies.

The design program required maximum isolation between program elements, and convenient outdoor activity space adjacent to each function. The pinwheel plan, with five wings radiating from a large central lobby achieved the desired results. At the same time, the resulting narrow footprint of each wing, along with shingle roofing and brick finish, combined to yield a neighborhood-friendly composition.
